Series of Paintings – the emotions and intention of the works
The ‘Contemporary Woodlands’ series
Modern, striking interpretations of the forest. Geographic lines, strong perspective and vibrant colour combinations. Energetic artworks full of movement that add a statement feature to any space. This series was born at a time of grief. Subconsciously, I started to paint distant light through the trees. They offer images of comfort, hope and spirituality. Just how walking in woodland and witnessing light and shade is calming. More recent pieces enhance the light and shadow, indicative of dark times passing and light coming in with the prospect of brighter times ahead
The ‘Tunnel Woods’ series
Depictions of avenues of trees or holloways, using patterns, lines and shapes. Holloways are ancient tracks, often sunken after centuries of drovers and travellers walking these paths. Mystical and historical. The seasons inspire some of these pieces. I also use the colours of birds for the design because nature is clever at combining complimentary hues. For example, on a beautiful goldfinch. Dynamic and vibrant pieces for your space with beautiful colour combinations, offering a feeling of mystery and nature.
The ‘Light the Way’ series
Walking along woodland paths through the forest. Sunlight guiding you and offering the feeling of being guided through life. The artworks highlight the seasonal changes in colour and light. Time of day gives us different tones; more golden at sunset, fresher in Spring. These artworks also highlight the transition of the seasons. Those brief moments where you have both colours as one chapter closes, and another begins.
